The program consists of four major components that participants can expect to complete:
Step 1: Meet with one or more physicians to discuss any
past attempts to quit, frustrations and to set a quit date.
Step 2: Gradually increase the amount of nicotine you consume through techniques such as switching cigarette brands. This stair-stepping approach will help you assert your control over this additction.
Step 3: A week before the quite date, begin maintenance therapies, such as nicotine patches, inhales, lozenges or gums, and/or prescription medications. This varies on a case-by-case basis.
Step 4: Once the quite date is reached, short, follow up meetings are instrumental in
preventing relapse.
