Men's Health Program

Take A Timeout to Care About Yourself

We know your type: The Weekend Warrior. Your back hurts a little after a game of hoops or afterFlorida Hospital East Orlando Men's Health throwing the football with your son, but you can handle it. But sooner or later, that minor ache you are living with may really start to slow down your game. And, before you know it, that minor ache or simple injury has turned into a major problem.

There are plenty of excuses, but there is nothing more important to you or your family than your health. To stay in top condition, you'll need a game plan.

Many health concerns can be prevented by eating a proper diet, getting plenty of exercise and not smoking. For those that cannot be prevented, early detection is key. A Game Plan for Good Health

At Florida Hospital East Orlando, the Men's Health Program focuses on prevention, diagnosis and treatment for the top health concerns men face including:

  • Rehabilitation and Sports Injuries -Lower back pain, hip and knee injuries & rehabilitation
  • Colorectal Cancer - The third most common cancer among men with more than 52,000 new cases in 2009; Regular screenings are important for men over 50 and those with a family history.
  • Heart Disease - The leading cause of death in the U.S. with 60 million American men suffering from coronary heart disease, cardiovascular disease or stroke and an additional 34 million with high blood pressure.
  • Sleep Disorders - 40 million Americans suffer from chronic, long-term sleep disorders each year, while 20 million experience occasional sleeping problems. Undiagnosed, sleep disorders can lead to impaired memory and physical performance and eventually serious health problems, as is the case with sleep apnea.
  • Prostate Cancer - One of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the U.S, but also one of the best survival rates due to early detection. Because there are usually no specific signs or symptoms of early prostate cancer, it is important to be screened for it regularly to have the best chance at identifying it early.
  • Diabetes - 12 million men have diabetes, but only 4 million are aware of this fact.Undiagnosed, diabetes may lead to serious complications such as blindness, cardiovascular disease, kidney damage, and amputation of lower limbs.
